Travel Preparation & Packing Guide
You will receive your full travel package 2–3 weeks before departure. It will include your travel documents, name badge, spotter tags, power adapter, journal, and other helpful items.
Please remember to pack light, as bus storage space is limited. Each traveler may bring:
One suitcase (50 lbs / 23 kg or less) placed under the bus
One backpack/daypack that fits under your seat (also airline-approved)
What to Bring
Essential Items
Passport – Required for travel
Travel Insurance – Bring a printed or digital copy
Medications – Include extra doses in case of delays
Cash (USD) – For snacks and small purchases; no need to exchange money
Clothing & Comfort
Comfortable, casual clothing
Good walking shoes
Hat, sunglasses & sunscreen
Rain jacket
Modest clothing for religious sites (shoulders & legs covered)
Bathing suit or shirt/shorts (Dead Sea + baptismal service)
Waterproof shoes (flip-flops or water sandals)
Washcloths (not provided in many hotels)
Layers for warm days and cool nights
Electronics
Power adapter (included in your travel package)
Power converter for small appliances or CPAP machines
Smartphone essentials:
Adequate photo storage
Bible app (some sites don’t allow physical Bibles)
WhatsApp for communication
Charging cable
Keep phone on Airplane Mode unless you have an international plan
Keep photos of your passport and important documents on your phone
Other Useful Items
Journal & pen (included in your package)
Bottled water available on the bus for $1
Change of clothes + medications in your carry-on (in case luggage is delayed)
Important Things to Know
Maintain a positive attitude — small inconveniences happen!
Airline seats for group tickets are assigned at check-in
TSA PreCheck & frequent flyer numbers can be added at check-in
Your guide will be your main point of support — get to know them
Be on time — the bus will leave without you
Stay with the group — do not wander off alone
Wear your name badge at all times (required for entry to sites/restaurants)
Attach your spotter tags — they identify your bus and group
Label your suitcase clearly with your name
Notify your credit card company you’ll be in Israel & Palestinian territories
ATMs are available for local currency if needed
Only shop at approved locations
Avoid discussing American politics with locals
Drink plenty of water
Israeli security is strict — expect questions at airports and checkpoints
Hotels provide hair dryers and laundry service
Smartphone & Communication Tips
Use WhatsApp for free international messaging and calls
WiFi is available at the hotel and on the bus
Bring a USB cable to keep your phone charged
Israel is several hours ahead of U.S. time — keep this in mind when calling home
